• Design and lead implementation of ML architectures across NLP, search, and extraction tasks
• Optimise performance of large-scale pipelines, models, and systems in production
• Partner with product, infra, and domain teams to align ML efforts with user needs
• Set engineering standards for experimentation, testing, and deployment
• Mentor engineers and contribute to hiring, technical direction, and team development
• Identify and evaluate emerging techniques in LLMs, embeddings, and applied AI

• Deep understanding of NLP, transformers, embeddings, and distributed training
• Strong engineering background - ability to architect, debug, and optimise real systems
• Proficient in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, Docker, and cloud infra (AWS preferred)
• Experience with data pipelines, model serving, and CI/CD for ML
• (Bonus) Familiarity with vector search, RAG, or scientific/chemical domains
